The Government of Assam, Office of the Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE), has announced a massive recruitment drive for the year 2024. Interested and eligible candidates are invited to apply for 5550 vacancies for the positions of Regular Teachers and Assistant Teachers in LP and UP Schools. The recruitment process is in line with Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India, and candidates should be qualified in the Assam Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the Elementary Education Department, Assam.

- 18 to 40 years
- 18 to 42 years for Ex-Servicemen

Assam Assistant Teacher Salary:
Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Band – 2 (PB-2) with a salary ranging from ₹14,000 to ₹70,000, along with Grade Pay and other allowances as per “The Assam Service (Revision of Pay) (Amendment) Rules, 2019.”

Assistant Teacher for Lower Primary School:
- Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks.
- 02 years Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Assam TET or Central TET for Lower Primary.
- Non-Essential: NCC Certificate, Sports & Cultural Achievements.
Assistant Teacher for Upper Primary School:
- Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent).
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education.
- Assam TET or Central TET for Upper Primary School.
- Non-Essential: NCC Certificate, Sports & Cultural Achievements.
Other Eligibility:
- The candidates who have passed the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (ATET) conducted by the Elementary Education Department, Assam will be eligible for applying, and candidates who will appear and pass Assam TET.
- The Language-I of the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (ATET) of the candidate shall match the medium of instruction of the school where the candidate wishes to apply.
Assam Assistant Teacher Selection Process:
The selection process will be based on the merit list, and marks will be allocated as follows:
- HSSLC or its equivalent – 100 Marks
- Graduation (If required) – 100 Marks
- Assam TET for UPS – 100 Marks
- Professional Qualification (DElEd or BEd, etc.) – 100 Marks
- NCC – 10 Marks
- Certificate in Recognized Sport representing Assam officially at the National Level – 10 Marks
- Achievements in Fine Arts and Cultural Activities representing the State officially at the National Level – 10 Marks
